Our kaupapa
Moving to a new country changes everything at once, the language, the paperwork, the way things are done. Migrant Connections Taranaki has been walking alongside people through that since 2014. Whatever you need help with, it's a good place to start.
How we help
Every situation is different, so we work with you case by case.
One-on-one help and mentoring, in person, by phone or by email. We listen first, then work out what you need.
Regular sessions on tax, health, the legal system, and how to find and win a job in New Zealand.
Access to trained translators and interpreters, so language never stops you getting the help you need.
Understanding life in Aotearoa, including the Treaty of Waitangi, from both migrant and local perspectives.
Links to cultural groups, community networks and people who've been where you are, including the Newcomers network at Puke Ariki.
We work with Taranaki employers too. Supporting a new worker's whole family is how good people stay.
Migrant stories
People from Jordan, Chile, Zimbabwe, France, Germany and India have shared their journeys to Taranaki, what they left behind, what they found here, and how they came to belong.
There are people from around seventy countries living in our region. These are some of their stories.
In memory
A golden thread binding newcomers and cultures together.
For many years Geetha was the heart of Migrant Connections Taranaki. For countless people arriving in New Plymouth, she was the first friendly face they met. She passed away in March 2026.
There's no wrong question and no cost. Get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
With thanks
Migrant Connections Taranaki is free because of the organisations who back us.
